Finding Space

Don’t let a lack of space get in the way of winter joy.

This guy took me all of 5 minutes. Whole cloves from the spice cabinet, a toothpick colored orange for his nose, and scrap yarn for a scarf. The cap was a temporary loan from the vanilla bottle, stuck to a felt furniture foot brim.

The tiny frozen balcony that we were too tired to clean had become a sad reminder of an exhausting year. Seeing my new friend out there, however, reminds me how lucky we are to have a sliver of outdoor space we can still enjoy.

Here’s hoping it gets bigger in 2021.
