The will of the people still means something at Transport Scotland. Dozens of its 230 salt trucks or “gritters” have been named by the voting public.

As we speak, Spready Mercury, Gritallica and my personal favorite, Charles Rennie Mackinslush are plowing the M74 near Glasgow.
